Pet of the Month - July

This month, we’re beyond excited to shine the spotlight on not one, but three incredible pups: Rocky, Maizy, and Petey! These adorable Heeler-mix siblings may have had a ruff start, but thanks to the amazing team at Rusty’s Legacy, they’re now living their best puppy lives with muddy paws, wagging tails, and all the treats they can handle! 

These pups were part of two litters rescued from a backyard breeder and urgently needed foster care before heading north for medical attention and adoption. When they were found, they were covered in fleas, ticks, and other unwelcome hitchhikers—but don’t worry, their story takes a joyful turn! With a little TLC and a lot of love, these tiny survivors bounced back in no time, showing us all that even the smallest tails can carry the biggest resilience.

Once safe in foster care, Rocky, Maizy, and Petey thrived. They’ve been busy exploring life with kids, another adult dog, and a home full of love. They’ve mastered potty training, picked up some impressive manners, and fallen head-over-paws for squeaky toys.

Their favorite hobbies? Hiking, splashing in creeks, chasing lightning bugs, and digging like they’re searching for buried treasure. And when those puppy teeth need something to chomp on, Pawstruck Cow Ears are the ultimate chew-time MVPs, keeping furniture safe and tails wagging! They’re also big fans of our Daily Dental Chew Brushes and Air Dried Food Topper, which double as delicious training treats! These clever pups can sit, lie down, and are mastering the art of the paw-shake like little pros.

But this isn’t just a feel-good story about cute puppies (even though they’re ridiculously cute). It’s also about the vital work being done by Rusty’s Legacy. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, shelters across Western North Carolina were overwhelmed. Rusty’s stepped up, offering emergency care, affordable spay/neuter services in rural areas, and hope to countless animals in need. Their work is saving the lives of the animals we love every day!

We’re proud to feature Rocky, Maizy, and Petey as our Pets of the Month, not just for their irresistible zoomies and floppy ears, but because their journey is a beautiful reminder of the love, care, and community behind every successful rescue.
